The Cleanse – Day 2

I started the morning the way that I was supposed to — up at least 30 minutes before the sun (thank you, 530 AM alarm and Taffy), did the weird oil pulling thing, did the cleansing oil before my shower, had a few glasses of warm water with lemon, which no matter how refreshing it is, isn’t coffee. Today was my first day back in the office since February 7, and I have to say that it was nice to get dressed in something that wasn’t leggings and a tshirt. I’m sure I’ll be laughing at myself later this week for thinking that.

I left my cleansing tea at home, so I grabbed it when I went home to walk the pup at lunch time. She’s the best lunch date. I then managed to throw it all over myself/my keyboard about an hour before the end of the day, so I feel like I should apologize to all of my coworkers for how fragrant I was this afternoon.

I woke up so early to go to Kettlebell, and basically got dressed in the dark in an attempt not to wake up Taffy. GF definitely doesn’t love mornings, and so I was hoping to let her sleep until I got back from exercise around 6:50. Boy, was I dumb. So, she ended up getting pretty loud about 5:50 (the time that I needed to leave), I ended up taking her out, and I didn’t make it to exercise. She then managed to jump up right in the middle of my bed and go straight back to sleep. I did go to Pure Barre tonight, and it was a good class. My sleepiness didn’t affect that.

I did get pretty tired/hungry/cranky late morning, but I think that’s a combination of a too-small breakfast, an earlier morning than I’ve had in a while, and not being totally engaged in my work. There is a fine line between boredom and hunger.

What did I eat?

Breakfast: Cleanse-appropriate egg casserole — eggs, coconut milk, sauteed mushrooms/onion/kale, baked at 400 for about 40 minutes. This was part of my meal prep yesterday, and while it tasted delicious (seriously, coconut milk is a revelation), it wasn’t as filling as I had hoped it would be. Tomorrow, I’m going to add something to my breakfast so that I don’t “need” a midmorning snack.

Snack: 2 brown rice cakes with almond butter. I know I’m not supposed to eat anything processed, but they were there, I was bored, and I needed to eat something. My egg casserole was only 187 cal (according to MyFitnessPal), and that just isn’t filling enough for breakfast. Hence, the thought to supplement in the morning — at least test something else out.

Lunch: 3 oz of baked chicken, roasted broccoli, and a mason jar of Smitten Kitchen Carrot Soup.

(Another) snack: I was ravenous when I got home from work/walking Taff, so I made myself an “egg salad” — hard boiled egg, dijon mustard, sririacha — with Almond Thin crackers.

Dinner: Same as last night — Baked Falafel, avocado mash, and sauteed kale.  Couldn’t stomach the golden milk again, so I made myself a cup of trader joe’s candy cane green tea. It is just as tasty as it sounds.
