welp. i tried.

this may be the story of my life.

I survived the first two days of the challenge well — I made it without caffeine, carbs, my beloved sweet potatoes, and I didn’t even fall asleep at my desk. Then this happened yesterday:

Imagecaffeine. the nectar of the gods. do i regret it? nope. i even had a second cup.

Imagespeaking of no regrets, this was fabulous. thank you bantam and biddy

Why, you may ask? Oh, only because the sprinkler pipes above my apartment froze and exploded, sending three inches of standing water into my living room and closet. Currently, there is no insulation, no ceiling in the living room or closet, and the apartment is a balmy 47 degrees, even with the emergency heat on. (Why do I know that, you may ask? The water main also broke at my place of work, so I’m working from home until further notice). I’ve tried to find the bright side — at least my room is okay, the damage was minimal, its cold enough that wet things didn’t mildew (they froze), and my mother is a saint to come up and help deal with all of this. There is a ton of damage, and I’m not looking forward to dealing with the insurance company, my rental agency, really anyone, but that’s a story for another day.

I’m pretty much back on track today — or as back on track as I can be without a kitchen. Where I will be staying for the 2-3 weeks my apartment is being recarpeted, receilinged, resheetrocked, and repainted is still up in the air, so I don’t know what I’ll do for the coming days. I do want to stick with the spirit of the challenge, so I’m going to do some brainstorming in between packing my entire apartment back up and trying to work. Party on.
